In 2005, I was a victim of a violent crime. I was shot multiple times without provocation by two armed men who attempted to carjack my vehicle. Although I was a crime victim, I didn't feel like I could cooperate with the police investigation. Where I come from, once word gets out that you've cooperated with the police that only makes you a bigger target of criminal violence. That is a dark reality in so many neighborhoods like mine across America. I'm not saying its right, but its reality. And it's not unfounded. There's a harsh reality around violence and criminal justice in our inner cities.

But my experience in no way justifies what I said. Looking back now, I can see how those comments could be viewed as offensive, especially to those who have suffered their own personal tragedies or to those who put their lives on the line to protect our citizens from crime. Please understand that I was expressing my own personal frustration at my own personal circumstances. I in no way was intending to be malicious or harmful. I apologize deeply for this error in judgment.

Rapper Busta Rhymes has rejected a plea-deal from Prosecutors in his assault case yesterday, 20th February. The deal would have meant that Rhymes, 34, would spend only 6 months in jail for two assault charges. The first charge is for Rhymes attacking his former driver, Eddie Hatchett, during an argument over back-pay. He is also charged for assaulting a fan who allegedly spat on his car in August. He is, however, considering a judge's plea-bargain that would allow him to plea guilty to a lesser assault charge and remain free.

In other news, the Florida beauty shop owner who was allegedly assaulted by Foxy Brown, resulting in her arrest last week, has told the New York Post "I hired a lawyer. I hope to pay off my mortgage with whatever I get"- referring to a lawsuit he is about to launch against the rapper. IMO he deserves nothing if all he wants is money instead of justice. Plus, I don't think Foxy has any money left!

Dr. Dre says Detox will drop in ‘07

After years of being tightlipped about his highly anticipated Detox album, Dr. Dre recently spoke about his long awaited opus on Big Boy’s Power 106 radio show in Los Angeles.

During a call in to the station to celebrate his birthday (February 18), the legendary producer confirmed that Detox will be dropping this year.

“I’m trying to get everybody that I’ve ever worked with over the years to appear on the records,” explained Dre. “There are gonna be some new guys that I’m working with, Bishop Lamont and Slim the Mobster, those two guys I think are incredible, new artists out of the west coast that I’m trying to get out there.”

“Trust me, this will be worth the wait, I’m trying to make this the one they remember me for. It’s a lot of pressure but I’m feeling good about it. I feel like I’m my worst critic and if I’m loving it, everyone else will,” he continued. ” I’m tryna put 12, 13 songs on the album. I’m not totally sure about the month but it will be definitely be out this year.” (SOHH)
